Tempe’s Past and Future Mayors come together for a Conversation in Leadership

Tempe, AZ – See history in the making at the 5th Annual Conversations in Leadership as, for the first time in eight years, the incoming and outgoing Mayor of Tempe will come together to talk about the City of Tempe—past, present and future—and their roles in leadership. 

Tempe Leadership sponsors this one-time event, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. May 22 at the Tempe Mission Palms. The night will feature both Hugh Hallman, Tempe Mayor for the past eight years, and the new Mayor-elect—Mark Mitchell or Michael Monti—one week after the May 15 Mayoral election. Attendees will hear first-hand accounts of life in leadership, while enjoying drinks, appetizers and networking amongst attendees and presenters.

Conversations in Leadership will allow our mayoral panelists to honestly discuss leadership lessons learned, while providing insight into the future of Tempe.  Each panelist provides a unique perspective, from Michael Monti’s role as a business leader in Tempe, to Mark Mitchell’s time on the City Council, and including Hugh Hallman’s evaluation of his past eight years as the Mayor of the City of Tempe.

Ticket prices are $50 per person.   All event proceeds support Tempe Leadership –a 501(c)(3) organization. Tempe Cares – Neighbors Helping Neighbors

Since 1991, Tempe Cares has given citizens a chance to help their neighbors. Hundreds of volunteers gather for an annual workday to improve the appearance of Tempe neighborhoods, schools and community spaces.

Tempe Leadership Alumni and our sponsors are “tooling up” for the 2012 annual Tempe Cares Project to be held on March 3rd 2012 and are seeking project ideas that will further improve our wonderful city and continue the ongoing legacy that is Tempe Cares.

Tempe Cares volunteers have painted, repaired and landscaped hundreds of homes; painted school buildings, non-profit buildings, arterial walls; and cleaned up parks and open spaces in Tempe. The work is a result of volunteers and sponsors pooling their resources – skilled and unskilled labor, tools and building materials – to enhance the quality of life for the citizens of Tempe.

The Tempe Cares Committee, Tempe Leadership and the Tempe Chamber of Commerce coordinate the program, working in collaboration with the city, local school districts, non-profit organizations, service clubs, and neighborhood associations.

Tempe Cares owes its success to many people who dedicate their time, energy and hard work. This one-day event is a wonderful opportunity for families, social and service groups, neighbors, and individuals to come together as teams to improve our community. You’ll be well fed, thanks to our restaurant partners, make new friends, and have the satisfaction of knowing you’ve made a difference.
